- What AT seems to be doing is taking the average 030 card with simm socket that
- everyone has in their a1200 and putting it on the motherboard, leaving room for
- more upgrades in the belly slot. This might put some a500 owners over the edge
- when considering buying one and is a good short term idea to make some cash.

- : Again, we get to that question of who is going to be buying these

- : users who already have Amigas. But what about new blood? What are
-
- There will be little to no new blood until 97 with the PPC amiga, and that only
- provisionally dependant on what the PC world has done and what else besides a
- 604 chip goes into the PPC amiga. What AT charges for the thing at that point
- also has a bearing. I can see AT charging the cost of a complete P130 system
- today for just the PPC amiga alone, no monitor anything. Low end in '98?
-
- : they going to think? "What do you mean I have to have a special
- : monitor for this system?" "What do you mean it'll only do 256 colors"
-
- There are those who say "Well you can use your tv with it." but we shall ignore
- those people. :)
-
- : "What do you mean I can't run (insert favorite PC game or utility)?" A
- : low-cost computer is one thing; a low-cost, old, underpowered machine
- : is another. If the 1300 comes out as we've heard through the rumor
- : mill, it's going to be the 600 all over again.
-
- Not as bad as that, it does allow for more expansion than an a1200 unlike the
- a600 which offered less with a sawed off keyboard. The most I would hope for
- with the 1300 is 3.5" IDE hard drives instead of the 2.5" ones. I do consider
- the 1300 a gift for the 3rd party people though, something to keep them
- interested and in business while they are waiting.
